4. Southern Cal Trojans
Probably the ugliest best uniform out there. Despite not really being particularly nice to look at (in my opinion), there’s just something right about them. If you saw a high school team with those wide yellow shoulder stripes on the jersey or the double stripe on the pants you’d think they were ugly but Southern Cal somehow pulls it off.
The cardinal red and gold colors are classics as is the Trojan emblem on the sides of the helmet. Not many sports teams can pull off yellow pants, if you’re not careful you end up looking like Iowa State. They’ve managed to tweak and change a few things in the last few years, namely the number design and jersey cut, without messing with tradition.
They’re not pretty but they’re perfect and I’m not sure why.
Check back Monday for our third favorite college football uniform.

Really? I thinks USC’s uniforms might be the fourth ugliest uniforms in college football.

I like the colors but hate the helmets. The trojan symbol looks ****** and old. I actually like the picture in this post better since the helmets are blank on the sides.
Where are the Horns going to fall on your list?

Be sure to note I’m counting down college football’s best uniforms, not the best looking uniforms. I freely admit their uni’s aren’t pretty, there is just something about them that makes them cool.

How about a USC Iowa State match-up to determine who can who wears the real yellow pants in college football.
Anyway, I think it’s suppose to be gold and cardinal red.

Ha. I’m relatively sure that even with the mighty Gene Chizik coaching Iowa State would get handled pretty easily.

Without doubt the Texas Longhorn uni is one of the most hidious in college football. I find it amusing that you proclaim your own uni as tops.

Um Ken, pretty much every best uniform list has Texas, Michigan, and Notre Dame at the top of the list. Including Sports Illustrated who put Texas number one in the last year.
I actually have USC much higher than most people so I don’t know why you’re complaining. SI has them at number 9.
And you spelled hideous wrong. Nice try though.

I will argue on the Florida St. uniforms because they have gotten decidedly worse over the years. They could have been supplanted by some one like Alabama. Being a Southern California man, I of course am partial to them. I laud SC for going back to the more traditional look with the single wide shoulder band and the grey face masks. As long as they keep Nike away from their uniforms (sorry Oregon) they will always be classic.
Texas’ road uniforms are classic. There is only so much burnt orange a person from outside the Republic of Texas can take, so I don’t like the home uniforms. I think they should be like the Dallas Cowboys and wear whites at home.
Best uniforms left off the list: Penn State and Alabama.

[...] BevoSports ranks the best uniforms in College Football and has this to say about their #4 pick the USC Trojans: “Not many sports teams can pull off yellow pants…” [...]

I’ve never seen anyone put Oklahoma’s uniforms near the top. If you like crimson then you put Alabama’s uniforms on the list not the Sooners. Alabama and Penn State are just outside my top 5.

Ken, the logo on our helmet is not a big old cow head. It is a Longhorn (there is a difference). And I like FSU’s uniforms, especially their black one. UT needs to get a black uniform. They could pull it off.

I was in NYC a couple of years ago, while walking around Manhattan I saw a group of younger people, many of whom were wearing Longhorn T-shirts and hats. I asked one of them where in Texas they were from. He said, “We’re from Michigan.”

I go for helmet design, the color scheme. and a classic-modern look. I don’t know what’s the big deal w/ the yellow pants when the Pittsburg Steelers and LSU wear them. In fact, the Trojans’ color scheme is the same as the Gryffindor’s of Harry Potter or the old Soviet Union. Notice that Harry’s team never lost and the fact that the United States men’s basketball team HAS NEVER BEATEN THE SOVIETS, LOL. Anyway, to get back on the subject, here’s my list:
1. Michigan
2. Notre Dame
3. Penn State
4. USC
5. Alabama
6 Coloroado
7. Miami
8. Oklahoma
9. Nebraska
10. Hawaii
